In General, I Hate Muffin Tops

I originally posted this over at the Complaint Department Manager's blog but, after completion, I thought it would be SFW for By The Numbers, as well as Ormond Offbeat.

Sorry CDM Followers, I am just an old man and get pissed off rarely. I turn 50 years old a week from Tuesday and, just like many old men, have little patience for a lot of people.

So, this pleasant, Chamber of Commerce kind of Sunday afternoon, I headed down the beach to my favorite Publix grocery store to stock up on feed supplies this old man needs every month or so. You know, soy sauce, black pepper, chips and, really, whatever else they have on sale.

The cool, at least I think anyway, thing about where I live is that the Taj Mahal is less than two blocks from an automobile friendly beach and I can drive from my condo to my grocery store on the beach.

Yeah, I really get a kick out of that.

So I arrive at my local shopping center that I enjoy hanging at and enter my grocery store.

As this is a fairly large, stock up, kind of visit, I grab one of those rarely used shopping carts and head on off.

Now, I am a single guy and, like most men, I don't shop, I buy. So, I know where I am going.

As I head down the produce aisle I spot the following.....

A mid 20's year old pony tailed, tank top, tattoo bearing redneck pushing a child carrying cart, you know, the ones with benches in them for young kids to ride in. Well this one was equipped with a mid 20's year old girl holding a toddler on her lap.

Additionally, another mid 20's girl with a HUGE tramp stamp was free loading a ride in that kid carrying area and that tattooed dude was struggling to provide acceleration to that buggy.

Further adding to my frustration, there was another, and part of that crowd, muffin top pushing a cart of her own alongside that oversized grocery cart.

So what did this olelongrooffan do?

I stopped, turned around, and started my, usually pleasant, Publix shopping experience on the other side of that Florida based retailer.

As it was, I was able to complete my excursion without running into them again.

Until I realized I had forgotten tortillas for my morning eggs and sausage breakfast wraps.

So, I head over to the "Ethnic" aisle and as I turn the corner, I see these two cart bearing tattooed rednecks moving down this aisle and basically blocking my passage of them in the aisle in front of me.

Oh, by the way, if you are on a four lane road and are going the same speed as the car to your right, You Are In The Wrong Lane.

But I digress.

Slowly, one of those carts moves in front of the other one and I slip between them to get my much desired tortillas.

As I slide between them, one of the tramp stamped muffin tops says, loud enough so this olelongrooffan can hear, "I can't believe how rude people are down here."

Now I have to say, I believe, these days, I am a polite ole man.

I always point out burned out brake lights.

I let people out in traffic.

I carry my 87 year old neighbor's recycle bin out to the curb every Thursday.

I never park in his parking spot.

and cold pops are always in my frig for thejeepjunkie and TheGoodAttorney for their happy hour visits.

But this fat little bitch just pissed me off.

I had left my buggy behind them to slide through, get those tortillas and return to it to reverse direction and get out of their world.

So, as I was returning and fuming at her thinking I was rude, I mentioned in passing that she was the one blocking the aisle.

As she started to smart off some inane response, I turned to her and said....

"Hey muffintop, your grandchildren will love that tramp stamp across your ass."

and I turned around and left.

Now while this is not the most mature method I could have handled this situation,

It sure felt good and I am still able to

Celebrate Life.

Thanks CDM.

Just Some Old Photos

So, the other day I was working with Manuel Labor tearing up SweetKristine's pristine home and, if you have Been Counting Along With Me, I found that memory inducing old Budweiser tall boy can.

Well, as I was looking around in My Pictures inside this trusty olelaptop, I found some other images that I thought I would post here, just for the h*ll of it.

This first one is of some of the horses we had out at the original Haven Lee Farm in Halltown, Missouri. I did a blog about it and the Bus commented that it was a pretty good yarn and even linked it in a blogpost over at Bus-Plunge. Thanks Big Brother.

I think I included this image in a blogpost but wanted to include it again as a reminder to myself as to why I live in the Sunshine State. It is a shot of my Mom's 1988 Honda Accord buried in what appears to be a foot or so of snow. BRRRRRR.

The only white stuff I want to be buried in can be found in the third photo of this blog!!

This old school black and white photograph was taken at my Mom and TheGentlemanFarmer's 25th wedding anniversary. The dapper dressed man in the center of this image is my Mom's dad, Alphonse Charles Bansbach. The couple he is addressing is the Bus and his, still gorgeous wife, The Private RN. It was on Granny and Man's cabin out on the Big River that the B's Nest sign the Bus has on his lake cabin emanated from.

Now, I am sure you are curious as to why we all called my Grandfather "Man". Well, from the story I got, he travelled alot and my older family members lived near Granny and Man in Shrewsbury, Missouri. One time when Alphonse came home, my older siblings asked either Mom or Granny, "Who is that Man?" And the name stuck throughout the rest of his, and my days. I am not sure if our cousins, yeah both them, called him Man also.

The following image was taken at the funeral of TheGentlemanFarmer's mother. Her name to us was Moo. Even I don't know the inspiration of that nickname. In this image, TheGentlemanFarmer's younger brother, my Uncle Frank, is on the left and I am not certain who that dude is to Uncle Frank's left but I will venture his last name, or his mother's, is probably Lee.

I was living in Florida at that time and had a good, although long distance, relationship with Uncle Frank. When Moo passed, Uncle Frank recommended I not travel to St. Louis for her funeral. I took his advice but afterwards, I was p*ssed as I missed meeting a ton of cousins whom I had never met and, most likely, never will. My loss that is for sure.

On a much brighter note, check out the following couple images. That is the brood of most of my older Lee siblings.

In this image, from right to left are my nephew Christopher, his step brother Skip, my niece Mary Ellen, my NotSoLil nephew Jim and my niece Stephanie. That old go cart we got from our neighbors, Bill and Minnie Lee Lemmons. They had two sons with Celebral Palsy and Lou, the youngest, would say to everyone in my family in the most excited voice possible, whenever he saw us outside, "Hiya Bob!" Will remember him forever.

Check out the old school metal chairs surrounding that tablecloth covered table in the background of this shot.

These images were taken in the backyard of my Mom and TheGentlemanFarmer's home to which we moved from Haven Lee Farm, Halltown edition.

In the above photo, you can see YoungChristopher hamming it up for his aunts, uncles, grandparents and dad.

From left to right, you my Mom, my brother Jim-the Bus, his totally hot wife-The Private RN, my baby sister Joan-referred to as the Horsewhisperer in that blog about A Day On The Farm, TheGentlemanFarmer has, as always, a camera glued to his face while his namesake, Robert G. Lee, Jr. is standing behind him enjoying his son be the limelight of the moment. To BBB's left is thebarngoddess, a then skinny Jane, thejeepjunkie and #9.

I don't recall the reason for this gathering but in that above photo, check out all that junk beside that junk filled metal building in TheGentlemanFarmer's backyard!! Oh, there was a polebarn out back, that Tim Penn and I built, with even more junk in it!!

The following image was taken at #9's American wedding. I put it this way as she was married in France and then followed up with another wedding here in the states a few weeks later.

I'm going to put it at about 1990. From the left, the olelongrooffan, thejeepjunkie, TheGentleman Farmer, my oldest sister, BBB, the Bus and thehorsefarmer. I remember it as a frigid cold experience and will always do so. I mean, who the h*ll gets married in the middle of December in the Ozarks? See that photo of Mom's Honda to get the idea!!

And this young lady?

She is my youngest sister Joan's 14 year old daughter, Hailey. I have to say this about that. My daughter Jessica is 10 days older than Hailey and man, kids grow up fast these days!!

The following image is of thejeepjunkie hiking through some unknown woods oh so many years ago.

And many years later, this olelongrooffan and thejeepjunkie remembering to Celebrate Life!!

This one is of BBB during his stint in Vietnam. I remember seeing a hard copy of this photo around when I was a kid. It was captioned, "Would you buy a used car from this guy?"

Definitely not.

This is a shot of this olelongrooffan, perched on the rear decklid of my oleragtop during this adventure. The reason I included this one as opposed to the closeup of me that KJ shot. Well, in this one you can't see as many of my wrinkles.

And this old shot was taken, based on the Christmas tree in the background, during a Christmas dinner out at the Halltown based Haven Lee Farm.

From the left in this photo is my Grandfather, Alphonse, thejeepjunkie, TheGentlemanFarmer, this ole longrooffan, complete with oxford under that short lived football jersey, I'm not sure who is next in line but I am sure he is some seminary student my folks harbored every holiday. Either that or the Bus, who was in the seminary at the time. The last in this lineup is Wally Ellinger, a Catholic priest.

A few things about this photo.

That glass of milk on the table? I am confident it is "half and half". No, not the cream but 1/2 powdered milk and 1/2 whole milk. That is Mom stretching a buck during my upbringing. Yeah, that, and the day old bread store.

In front of Alphonse is a can of Coors. I would suspect this is either just after Coors was introduced into the State of Missouri, but if it was prior to that date, know everyone loved a smuggled in from Kansas can of Coors beer.

thejeepjunkie, as always, manuvering his way in front of this olelongrooffan in the food line.

TheGentlemanFarmer is surely telling a story and has the rapt attention of both that seminary student and Wally.

And judging by the fact that serving plate of food in front of Man had been disseminated by all present and thejeepjunkie and I were back for more, and the fact that TheGentlemanFarmer's napkin is still on his plate, and the fact the ice in those partially filled cocktail glasses had melted, I am confident this would become a long story telling night out there on ole Haven Lee Farm!

Now just a bit on Wally Ellinger. As I have mentioned previously, we, as kids, never called nuns and priests as "Sister" or "Father", just Delores or Wally. Wally was a Roman Catholic priest and, as such, was not able to marry. When Wally's brother passed unexpectedly, he left his wife Ruth and 8 children to carry on in this world. Wally, a year or so later, left the priesthood, then and now, a mortal sin, and married Ruth and became another father to those kids. Yeah, weird but true.

Below is a full on shot of my Grandfather and his now infamous hat!

I told you he was a dapper dressed dude!

And I downloaded this image of my three older brothers from the Bus' blog a while back just to enjoy it. Mid 50's, boys in ties and dress coats, well except for thehorsefarmer in the middle, but, heck it is still the same way.

And this shot is of the five Lee boys shot outside at our home at 1822 S. National, the corner of National and Sunshine, in Springfield, Missouri. This was a huge three story with basement home on several acres. Sadly, it is now a parking lot for St. John's hospital in my hometown. But know this ole longrooffan has great memories of it.

And this last one is of thejeepjunkie outside of the St. Agnes Cathedral in Springfield.

And why do I include this slightly out of focus shot.

It is because thejeepjunkie was wearing the most favorite shirt this olelongrooffan owned!!!

And it is finding these old images, sharing them with you and getting something to give thejeepjunkie sh*t about allows me to

Celebrate Life.

Oh So Special Lynne

So, a couple weeks ago, danthecabinetman hooked me up with Oh So Special Lynne, a feisty eighty-four year old woman living just south of the Birthplace of Speed in sunny Daytona Beach.

Well, as it turns out Oh So Special Lynne has been looking for "My Guy" since she sold that apartment complex some years back.

Yeah, this oleunemployedconstructionworker, as described by thecardude, is a Boutique Contractor, a name that works for this olelongrooffan.

However, having said that, there is nothing better than being a "My Guy". As in, "You need that done? Call My Guy." Nothing better in my world.

So I am relocating the rogue air conditioning vent from that rare wall mounted location to the desired ceiling location and realize I need a taller ladder than this olestationbus owning dude had brung, yes brung, along to work on that cool Octogenarian's home.

I mentioned to Oh So Special Lynne that I needed to run over to the Kid's house to pick up a taller ladder as this ole man couldn't hoist himself up into that attic with that three foot stepladder I had chosen to bring along today.

Oh, by the way, when I first met Oh So Special Lynne, I had inadvertantly blocked the driveway to her home, thus removing any way for The Daughter to leave at her convenience. As a result, The Daughter stayed during my whole meeting with her lovely Mom, with Mom outlining all the stuff she needs "My Guy" to do.

Anyway, when I arrived to move the aforementioned air conditioning vent, The Daughter was there also. When I realized the error of my ladder induced ways, I commented to Oh So Special Lynne I needed to go get a ladder from the Kid's home, as I am ladder challenged.

She mentions her sister, Killer Kay, has a couple tall ladders and she is only a few blocks away.

Well, after a phone call between the sisters, The Daughter and this olelongrooffan headed off to Killer Kay's home in my oleragtop. When we arrived, Killer Kay was putzing around in her garage, just waiting for us to arrive.

We drive in that old two ribbons of concrete driveway and I see Killer Kay's New Beetle safely nestled in that one car garage of her home.

I promptly load up that much needed ladder, upside down, in the rear passenger's compartment of that oleragtop and, after a bit of chatter, The Daughter and this olelongrooffan head back to meet up with Manuel Labor for a bit of fun.

So, since that day, I have spent some time over at Oh So Special Lynne's home removing her old cabinets, chipping up the old tile floor in her kitchen, hanging those new front porch lights that she liked but The Daughter didn't, cutting off those vertical blinds that were not hung high enough to begin with, assisting in making decisions about granite issues....you know, just the "My Guy" kind of stuff I seem to be successful doing.

So, by now, The Daughter has treated me to a wonderful night at Bonefish Grill, Stonewood Grill, where, incidentally, I met one of my neighbors here at the Taj Mahal.....and the reason he remembered me?......Hey don't you own an old van, the bartender asked....Yeah....Well, I live next door to you...and yet another night The Daughter treated me to a totally memorable home cooked dinner of the best stuffed lobster tails in thisoleman's memory.

So, by now, I have spent several not quite full time days with Oh So Sweet Lynne and we have bonded. I mean, her family is Roman Catholic, as am I, and when I mentioned TheGentleManFarmer's career, it kind of drove home that bond. Oh So Sweet Lynne shared with me the fact she is a Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of the Lourdes, her home church and after that, it was like we were family.

So, yesterday, danthecabinetman's company installed Oh So Special Lynne's granite countertops which means this oleunemployedconstructionworker needs to provide "The Tools and The Talent" to connect her sink and dishwasher, poste haste.

And Counters, guess what I did?

If you guessed I spent this afternoon underneath a new stainless steel sink with a date with plumbers white tape, You Are Correct.

Now while I am doing this, thejeepjunkie is installing a new set of sliding glass doors, performing his "My Guy" duties for another not so aged challenged woman.

Over the course of the afternoon, we exchanged several phone calls with the subject being, Twitter-Like....

Going to Lowes, need anything?

Going to Ace Hardware, need anything?

Going back to Lowes, need anything?

Going back to Ace, need anything?

So, toward the end of this Saturday, thejeepjunkie and this olelongrooffan speak and he is finishing up his project.

"Where are you heading?" he asked.

"Back Beachside" was my reply.

Okay then. And I don't hear from him again for about 20-25 minutes.

As I am cramped up under that sink, trying my best contortionist's moves, my cell phone vibrates and I flip it open to see thejeepjunkie's credentials on that screen.

"Whatca doing longroof?"

"Hooking up Oh So Special Lynne's sink. What about you?"

"TheGoodAttorney and thejeepjunkie are sitting on the front porch of the Taj Mahal and drinking your beer."

"Well, little brother, it's not my beer and when you are done having fun at my place, come on done to Oh So Special Lynne's pad."

And he did.

Yeah, thejeepjunkie came on down and, as always, displayed his charm and helped this olebeachside dude hook up the phone jack and hang a new light fixture in the dinette that Oh So Sweet Lynne spends her mornings in.

I have to tell you, it was funny.

As Oh So Sweet Lynne and The Daughter are Catholic, I know they possess a colorful vocabulary, as well as a sense of humor.

And they do.

As I mentioned to them, while thejeepjunkie was on that two step ladder doing those electrical connections for that new light fixture, I turned to them and said...

"You know how siblings have affectionate names for each other?"

And both of those beautiful women said "Yes."

I mentioned to them that thejeepjunkie and I did also.

"What is it?" they asked.

Both thejeepjunkie and this olelongrooffan, at the same time, said

"DUMBASS!!!"

and everyone started laughing our butts off.

Yeah that is how we are down here in the Sunshine State. Getting an 85 year old Eucharistic Minister to laugh out loud at the word dum-bass!!!

So, we finished up, and I am done with this phase of working on Oh So Special Lynne's home and she asked me what she owed, promptly cut a check and handed me said check as well as a bottle bag and this is what was inside.

I am pretty sure The Daughter had something to do with Oh So Special Lynne's decision in this matter.

But ya know what?

That is not what this blog is about.

No, like the youngsters, here, Oh So Special Lynne, all of 84 or 85 years old knows the same etiquette manners, of which the NotSoLilJim and LilMom possess.

And those are the folks I like to hang around with.

And check out the following images of Oh So Special Lynne's note.

And the fact this 85 year old, funny and beautiful woman, would consider providing a marriage proposal to this olelongrooffan helps me to

Celebrate Life.

Working, Just Working, And Finding the Joy In It

So, as I mentioned, this olelongrooffan got the windows reinstalled in the shiny olestationbus last week, in between thejeepjunkie getting the "7" and his new ride.

So, anyway, the olestationbus has

been getting a real work out as danthecabinetman has hooked this olelongrooffan up with a couple gigs with Manuel Labor.

One of those gigs was tearing up SweetKristine's kitchen. No, not Sweet Kristen (otherwise known as 3b1g...should it be 3b2g now? I know, email addresses are a b*tch to change. But welcome Sadie!!!) or Sweet Kristina (otherwise known as a great friend).

No, it was SweetKristine. A lovely mother of a funny 7 year old daughter and a great old dog, Sadie. All apologies to my grand niece, but as sweet I am sure.

It turns out SweetKristine had contracted with danthecabinetman to install new cabinets in her kitchen and, as a result, contracted with this oleunemployedcontructionworker to get with Manuel Labor and update her kitchen.

You see, back in the '70's, it was common to drop a ceiling in the kitchen down to the top of the perceived cabinet location. Well, here in the double aughts it is common to remove those soffits and install upper cabinets full height up to that 8 foot ceiling.

And for this I am glad as it allows this oleunemployedconstructionworker to have a means to afford my monthly dues in life.

Now if you Counters have looked closely at the above picture, you have noticed that SweetKristine's kitchen ceiling is absolutely, in totally redneck verbage, tore up, not torn up.

Yeah, this olelongrooffan did that with tools having arrived in the toney north Ormond Beach address in the rear end of that 47 year olestationbus that I love to drive.

After all, anyone can head out to Gary Yeoman's Ford dealership and buy a, Clunker induced, 2010 Econoline!

But this blogpost is not about my day with Manuel Labor.

Look closely at the above image.

Don't look at that vintage wallpaper;

Don't look at that newly purchased broom;

Don't look at that plasterboard hanging by chicken wire from the ceiling;

Don't look at all of that blown in insulation this olelongrooffan spent his day picking up;

Don't look at all of the mess I have made of SweetKristine's home;

Look at what is on the Counter of her formerly, and once again soon to be, pristine home.

Yeah, this is it in the following image.

At some point in the history of this home, some construction related hoon decided he, or she, needed, not just a 12 ounce cold beverage emanating from the home of that famous arch, albeit via Jacksonville, but a 16 ounce beverage, just to Celebrate Life.

So now, as those of you Counting Along With Me have, probably realized, my Hurricane Supplies do not include hops but wheat and therefore this tall boy doesn't really figure in my life.

But, I have to say this about that, I knew that old tall boy can had a place on the front porch of the palacial Taj Mahal and had to put it in its place.

But I will share with you Counters, that old can sure jogged the memories of this olelongrooffan of an old photo of my little sister, Joan and I wanted to share this 40 year old picture with you.

And I found many more to be shared in due time.

And finding this old tall boy can, bringing it home, remembering this old photo and allowing me to share it with you helps me to

Celebrate Life.

thejeepjunkie's New Ride

So, over the past few weeks, thejeepjunkie has shared with this olelongrooffan the amount of work his trunk mounted spoiler, aftermarket wheels equipped 1990 Honda Accord needed.

Struts, air conditioning compressor, paint plus some severe rust repair, timing belt, new interior, you know, moderately old car stuff. He and I calculated it would be between $3,500 and $4 large.

He kept harping on about thesungoddess's dad's Ford Ranger pick up and how he would like to have one.

He mentioned about how thesungoddess would give him a ton of cr*p about how dirty his ole Accord was and he responded that he was using this, purchased new automobile before the Kid was even born, like a truck and it was wearing out.

I asked him why didn't he just get a truck like he wanted. He hemmed and hawwed about spending the money or having a truck payment and generally mashed that idea around in his head.

I found several on Craigslist and ebay and they are all around $5 grand but, at that price, in questionable shape.

So anyway, on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend, I called thejeepjunkie to see if he could swing by the Taj Mahal after work to help me install the remaining two windows in the olestationbus after rattle canning the interior and installing new seals all around.

He mentioned he was going to look at a truck and to swing by the Kid's house around 2.

Well, actually, that truck he was going to look at turned out to be "7". Yeah, thejeepjunkie got another one, his seventh Jeep in less than two years! This is getting so old that I did not even blog about this one. Can't wait the the "8"th.

So, anyway, Sunday nite, thejeepjunkie and the Kid show up to the Taj Mahal after fishing out in a borrowed boat and the Kid walks in with three inches of water in a five gallon bucket. He shows it to me and it has about 20 live shrimp in it.

He tells his John-John he had just caught them in his cast net out on the intercoastal and could he boil them up?

Not just Yes, but Hell Yes!

And with limited direction from the olelongrooffan and thejeepjunkie, he gets at it, with a grin from ear to ear.

While the Kid was at it, his dad and uncle were sitting on the front porch at the Taj Mahal, admiring the stars and the not quite full moon and working at our mission to always Celebrate Life. thejeepjunkie even relayed the ridiculously low purchase price of this vehicle. Nice job, Bus.

the Kid comes out a few minutes later and offers some of his prized catch to us. Both his dad and uncle politely took one each and told the Kid to have at it, as they were his catch.

Know this, those freshly caught and spicily cooked shrimp sure were good but not nearly as good as watching that 16 year old Kid enjoy doing it! He even did the dishes!

So, Labor Day Monday rolls round and I am working on tidying up the Taj Mahal when I get a call from thejeepjunkie.

Whatca doing, John-John?

Just tidying up, jeepjunkie.

Want some company?

Need you ask?

And he and the Kid show up.

I hear car doors shutting out in the parking area and look out but don't see the Kid's tell tale sand colored Jeep through the bushes where they normally park.

I didn't see the blue of that old Accord either.

It was a white vehicle of indeterminant manufacture.

Wasn't really concerned until I heard "Hello The Camp" emanating from the mouth of thejeepjunkie.

Well, I jumped away from this laptop and directed this olelongrooffan toward the front door of the Taj Mahal.

Before I could even get there, thejeepjunkie was opening that always unlocked front door and heading toward my gourmet kitchen for a "cold pop" while I ask the Kid, following his dad through that designer front door of mine, "What are you driving?"

He shows me a set of keys and mentions thejeepjunkie finally got a New Ride, and "John-John, it's not a Jeep."

Well, let's check it out. I mean, the first new vehicle thejeepjunkie has gotten as a daily driver in 20 years. H*ll yes I want to see it.

So the Kid and I head out to the parking complex and this is what I see.

Yep, it is a d*mn nice 2000 Ford Ranger. And yes, inadvertantly I included the oleragtop, the olestationbus, and my formerly Joplin, Missouri based fertilizer selling, 86 year old neighbor Bert's 88 Corolla and the now flag bearing Taj Mahal in the background. Exposed after all.

But know this Counters, it is a sharp looking truck and thejeepjunkie, as always, did not pay retail for it. And his FHP buddies comfirmed the tint on the rear window is illegal and thejeepjunkie has now removed it.

And with the olelongrooffan supplied and the Kid installed Celebrate Life magnet, it is definitely a Lee vehicle.

And, oh yeah, as TheGoodAttorney noticed the first time he saw it, that is a nail in that Goodyear Tire selling jeepjunkie's newest acquisition.

And seeing that, hopefully, lets all of us

Celebrate Life.

What I Saw Today

So, this olelongrooffan was returning from the sponsor of the #48 race car and spotted this in the parking lot of the sponsor of the #19 race car.

I was out at that big box retailer because my locally owned hardware store did not stock a sorely needed piece of air conditioning ductwork Manuel Labor and this olestationbus owning dude needed to relocate an a/c vent in the thoroughly enjoyable home of one of the sweetest Octogenarians I have yet to meet. Her little sister, a youthful 73, is just as sweet.

Oh, by the way, if you are wondering why I have racing on my mind, click here.

So anyway, I whipped in that lot and got a few images of this.

It is a first generation Oldsmobile Toronado, sadly, now an orphan car. But this beauty was extremely technologically advanced when introduced in 1966. This body style lasted, until a major redesign, from 1966 to 1970.

It is a long hood, short rear deck, retractable headlight bearing, Gentleman's Muscle Car.

The drum brakes, as shown in this photo, on all four wheels would make this a virgin year '66 as front discs were introduced on the '67's. According to this source, the brakes on this year were extremely overwhelmed, hence the discs on later models.

Yeah, this was a beauty and I recognized it from 100 feet away while passing that parking lot near the Kid's house.

And, while sorry about the quality of the following image, check it out,

Do you see what is missing?

It is the transmission hump down the center of this interior. Yep, that old sweetie is a front wheel drive, the first one produced stateside in a long, long time.

And getting a What I Saw Today post and being able to share it with you Counters, lets me

Celebrate Life.
