Holy Sh*t Batman!!

A few days ago, this olelongrooffan did a post about spotting a lead sled down on Beach Street, capturing some images of it and stopping in at collectibles shop.  If you remember that post or followed that link, click here to see what was actually happening that day.

Yeah Counters, this olelongrooffan stumbled upon a federal raid of that collectible shop.

But don't worry, this olelongrooffan will still explore every opportunity I have and no matter the outcome, I can still

So, Today, This olelongrooffan Was Out And About

just checking out some stuff I could post both here and in the Hooniverse about the whole Bike Week thing going on down here at the Home of the World's Most Famous Beach.
I came across a pretty cool exhibition of a bunch of old Harley Davidson and Indian motorcycles, the blog of which I have in draft form and will post in the next couple days.
I also spotted this pimped out 80's era GMC pickup that appears to this olelongrooffan to have had some pretty extensive modifications.
And as I was driving south on Beach Street in the toney riverfront area of the mainland part of Daytona Beach,
I spotted this ole rat rod that may or may not be to everyone's taste.

After I gathered up a few images of it, this olelongrooffan was walking south on Beach Street and noticed a not previously seen collectibles store but walked right by it.  A few paces down the street, I stopped and turned around to check it out.

I mean, I'm certainly not in the financial position to acquire any high dollar autographed collectibles but I thought I would at least see what was to be seen.

I opened the door to that rather smallish shop and recognized alot of people seemingly milling about. I was just checking out the framed stuff they had laying around and pretty much ignoring the crowd.

I then looked up and saw a whole bunch of buffed, youngish men adorning themselves in flak jackets and POLICE t-shirts.

Almost immediately one of these guys approached me asking "Hey, What's up?"

This olelongrooffan took another look at all of them and then looked back at that young man and inquired, "Am I in the wrong place?"

His response?  "Yes, you are."

"See ya."

And this olelongrooffan beat it the h*ll out of that shop and headed back to the Taj Mahal here in the Birthplace of Speed wondering what was going to transpire this afternoon down there in the World Center of Racing.

I'll keep those of you Counting Along With Me informed as I am confident somehow or another, this olelongrooffan will find out.

And knowing that I am miles from the action of that team of cops really lets this olelongrooffan

Even Cops Are Race Fans

As posted over in the Hooniverse.

Last Wednesday, our own esteemed Mr. Emslie asked we Hoons what was our favorite cop car. I couldn't think of one until I got a call on Thursday morning from my brother asking why I hadn't posted this FHP Pursuit In Training Crown Vic I spotted at his shop awhile back. I immediately posted that image and he called to give me even more sh*t as it was the 92nd comment on that post.

Well, today this olelongrooffan was out and about at some Bike Week events and decided to drop by thejeepjunkie's shop to chat it up.

As I arrived, I realized his shop hadn't been this busy in quite some time.

I probably have mentioned his shop services all of the Florida Highway Patrol vehicles, as well as the City of Daytona Beach cop cars along with a couple other municipalities. As usual, I got involved a conversation with Trooper Bob, the driver of this highly desirable "slick top" Crown Vic Interceptor. He is working nights this month and lamented about the traffic for Bike Week. I asked him how it was for the Daytona 500 a couple weeks ago?

His eyes started glowing and he told me to follow him out to his Crown Vic. Well my fellow Hoons, when a cop tells me to do something, even casually, I always do it.

So we get out to that black and tan machine, Trooper Bob opens the door and says, "Check it out."

And I did. Apparently during SpeedWeeks, Jack Roush was out at our local Ford dealer and a buddy of Trooper Bob's took Bob's late model Mustang out to get it autographed. As it turns out, Trooper Bob was working I-95 in the vicinity of the autograph signing and stopped in got Jack's autograph on his daily driver office ride.

I complimented him on it and asked if I could blog it. "Hell yes," was his reply as he stuck his chest out and boasted, "I've got the only Jack Roush autographed Interceptor around!"

And Trooper Bob could have been the cop in this commercial. Same build, hair and sense of humor!

Yeah it's fun living round these here parts!

Some People Are Just Idiots

So after spending Wednesday morning searching these interwebs for any type of gainful employment, this olelongrooffan spent the afternoon gathering up the necessary tools to meet with Manuel Labor bright and early on Thursday morning.

While this olelongrooffan was out and about, I spotted what could be my new longroof.
But it's not big enough to haul the world's smallest Airstream so this olelongrooffan is going to have to pass on that Geo Metro.
As I was returning from the Kid's garage, I noticed a Volusia County Sheriff's Department helicoptor circling around overhead. This olelongrooffan just figured that some hoon had done something stupid and the cops were looking for him.

After those tools were gathered up and a new handle was installed in thejeepjunkie's sledge hammer,
this olelongrooffan decided to head down to BBB's favorite grocery store and pick up a few necessary provisions needed to try and fatten up this skinny olelongrooffan.

The police helicopter had, by this time, vacated the scene and was replaced with one from the Channel 6 television station down in MickeyMouseLand. It was stationary about 500 feet above the beach about a half mile south of the Taj Mahal.

Which placed it right at the location of caretaker of the meagerly few dollars this olelongrooffan keeps in my daily driver bank account. As the passing of this location is necessary to arrive at my favorite plaza, this olelongrooffan got a bird's eye view of what was happening.
I saw this cop car blocking off Harvard Street immediately adjacent to Bank of America and also to the, at the time, locked down Seabreeze High School.
Well Counters, it seems that some felon had decided to rob my Bank of America and left behind a satchel that was thought to contain a bomb! A pretty good idea so as to delay police response.

And Volusia County's finest were on the scene getting to play with some pretty expensive bomb removal equipment.
As this olelongrooffan was returning to the Taj Mahal I was immediately behind the motorcycle cop while the silver car was immediately in front of him. When the light at Cardinal and A1A turned red, the hoon driving the silver car proceeded to stop and then sped up and ran that red light. Right in front of that cop! Can you say Stupid?
And getting to see all of the events this olelongrooffan saw that Chamber of Commerce weather type of day really lets me

Celebrate Life.
