May This olelongrooffan Introduce The Newest YouTube Sensation? Jim Lee

This olelongrooffan has often blogged about my older brother affectionately, known as Bus-Plunge, and commented about the toy budget he has.

I asked him once how many cars he has owned in his lifetime and he said he would have to get back to me on that. A few months later we were talking and he mentioned that near as he could figure he has owned 160+ different vehicles over the years and still counting.

And yes, there were many of them that he asked himself until he was blue in the face, "Why Did I Sell That Car?"

Well Counters, it seems that this olelongrooffan was reading that book about my face and stumbled across a video from the tube that is you about one of my four favorite brothers.

It seems there is a dude in the Ozarks who drives around looking for cool old vehicles to video and share with his fellow youtubers. Kind of like this olelongrooffan, eh? Well, turns out one day he found the Bus-Plunge and now Big Jim is all viral and crap.

And that shows we Counters just another way to Celebrate Life.

What I Saw Today: You Have Beautiful Eyes, My Dear

So it has been nearly six weeks ago since this olelongrooffan hung up my carpentry tool belt for the last time and started selling motorcycle, automobile and cargo trailers. In that six weeks I have sold about forty trailers. The worst part of my new job? I don't have the time to wander around the Birthplace of Speed and catch sight of some cool stuff to share with those of you Counting Along With Me. Well, today was an exception to that.

I was commissioned to install a spring loaded hinge on a door over at The Car Shop and needed a few specialty screws for the project. Well, a trip to Daytona Bolt and Nut was required and on the way, this olelongrooffan spotted this 1960 Austin Healey Sprite at a sister repair facility.

It is a faded shade of robin's egg blue with a trio of funky strips running the length of it. According to the sticker on the rear of this little beauty, it came from Supreme Motors in the hometown of Hemmings Motor News, Bennington, Vermont. Now this olelongrooffan is a real geek as I knew that bit of trivia as I took the above image.

I was surprised to see it badged as being Supercharged and well as something German on the oval underneath its name.

But this olelongrooffan simply loved the play on words the license plate reflected as these Sprites are known as Bugeyes.

My older brother, Bus-Plunge, back in the early 70's had a vintage Triumph Spitfire that possessed similar rear tail lights and he mentioned they were rather difficult to come by. I can only imagine the difficulty of finding one of these 42 year old lenses now.

It possesses a face only its mother could love.

And the coat of arms on the id badge is a nice touch.

I spotted the removable side windows in the Corvettelike cubby hole in the rear and noticed there are no exterior door handles.

The lever to the rear of the passenger door is what is used to open the doors although if the side windows are installed, I'm not sure how this would work. But hey, British engineering is the best, isn't it?

And surprisingly to this olelongrooffan, this oleragtop has a bunch of dash gauges for a car, even a sports car, of this vintage.

And with Speedweeks and BikeWeek over and the Spring Turkey Run out at the Daytona International Speedway next weekend,I hope this olelongrooffan will have the opportunity to get a little work done on the "Charles Barrett Special" and pop up a post or two for my those of you Counting Along With Me to enjoy.

Also, Seconds Saturdays is spreading across the country. Stay tuned for details.

Beemers or Bimmers? Who Cares?

Now this olelongrooffan doesn't want to come off as being conceited or egotistical but sometimes I just stumble onto some cool old shit. And today at the end of my eleven hour day selling 4, count em 4, motorcycle trailers (my coworker sold 8 so there) I spotted some pretty cool motorcycles over on A1A and I just had to share some images of them with those of you Counting Along With Me.

There was a trio of old BMW motorcycles hanging in the parking lot of one of the hotels that, ironically, thejeepjunkie's better half's employer has in their local chain.

I was passing by at less than the mandated speed of 35 mph, it is BikeWeek afterall, and spotted these, among a sea of Harleys, in that beachfront parking lot.

As my fellow Hoons might suspect, I whipped a Ueee and checked them out. The two out front were seemingly identical with the exception of color and gas tank. Both of them had a Bing carb on them.

Out back was a kickass vintage, restored Bimmer with a sidecar attached. While it was not the Ural two wheel drive I spotted last fall it is damned sweet.

Interestingly enough, just above the rear tail light on this bike there is a hinge allowing the fender to be raised up but it had support rods seemingly preventing this from happening.

The yellow bike with the sidecar was sporting what appeared to be a new gauge showing a significantly low number of kilometers.

The obviously ridden white one showed 72,775 miles on its clock.

While the blue one displayed 61,550 miles.

That bike in the above image is the same shade as thejeepjunkie's '46 CJ2A and is probably of a very similar vintage.

I studied the data plate on the two single R75/5 bikes to try and ascertain the year they were built but without success.

But know, all three of them were a fantastic find and they were great to see, with the surf pounding in the background, for this exhausted olelongrooffan.

And this olelongrooffan also noted the white one seemed to be taking lessons from its across the Channel British cousins.

Who's The Boss?

It's BikeWeek down here in the World Center of Racing and since this olelongrooffan is now gainfully employed selling trailers, I am busier that a one legged man in a butt kicking contest. However, I did spot something today that, at least to me, is just over the top.

That's it right there. The first $115,000.00 motorcycle I have ever seen. Although I spotted a Viper a whiles back at the Winter Park Concours, this one is much more colorful.

It has a totally custom look and is, as the owner says, a one off.

All the way down to the gator skin seat.

Get this, it is powered by a Dunovan 606 cubic inch all aluminum racing motor. It has solid lifters, titanium rods, Edelbrock heads, and that is just what I was able to write down as the enthusiastic owner was describing it.

As this olelongrooffan is not really into bikes and definitely not a subscriber to this type of graphics, I am quite speechless in trying to describe them.

And as has been said many times, a picture is worth a thousand words.

Oh yeah, that 606 has been "dumbed down" to 700 horsepower with 740 foot pounds of torque so it can run on pump gas.

It's a work of art alright and I am sure there are a bunch of my fellow Hoons who would love to Hoon this. But at this price, I could buy a shitload of cool old cars that would suit this olelongrooffan just fine.

BTW: Boss Hoss has a dealer locater on their website so you can build one of your own.
