Jim's New Jeep

My brother Jim bought an old flat fender Jeep. You can see it here. It is in Denver and he is in the Ozarks so he and a buddy are going to get it. Have a safe trip, Jim.

Got Moved In, Just Moved In, not Settled In

So between yesterday and today, I got everything, except my wrecked 325

moved to my new place in Ormond Beach. The oleragtop still safely resides, peacefully, in a warehouse bay at my old place of employment.

This photo is a pic of yesterday's run--a heartfelt thanks to Ed for helping unload the sofa and Mom's old bedroom dressers at the end of a long day. I then headed back to Sl-Ocala.

This photo is of today's run. Had to park the 850 on the 150, I know, too many numbers, backwards as this particular trailer has the wheels set toward the rear and when I pulled it in nose first, the front wheels of Casper were nearly off the ground, sorry no pic there.

I was thinking as I was driving over that the carbon footprint I was creating was bigger than what I saw yesterday heading out to fix the john.

What I Saw Today

So today, I was making my final trip from Sl-Ocala to my new home in the Birthplace of Speed and stopped for petro just prior to leaving town. While there, I saw this guy fueling up this beast and asked if I could take a few pics for my blog. Although the dude looked pretty hip (more on the use of this word in another post), I am not sure if he knew what one was. He said I sure could so here it is.

An odd choice for a straight line race truck. Fuel cell, Full roll cage, racing buckets, Check out the shoes on the rear end of this beast. Nice Stance, though. Sounded nice and he lit the tires when he left.

Oddly enough, on the hood scoop there was GM Performance decals. I didn't get chance to ask him what was in it but it would be wild to take a MOPAR product and cram a GM motor in it. Well, more odd stuff than this has been done.

For five years I have lived in Ocala and never seen it. I asked him if he was from around here, he snickered and said, "No way, I live in Daytona".

I love my new hometown even more!

Wrecked IROC, Updated

So today, I was on my way to my old pool for my final dip and I turned the corner and saw this:

Yep, nothing. The IROC was gone and we will never know the story. Bummer, I always like a good story.

What I Saw Today, Bonus Edition

My intent is to publish no more than one What I Saw Today per day.

However, while driving Casper and a Uhaul to my new place, I was travelling down A1A, which is beach side at this point, and over the top of one of the buildings, I saw this.

It was a team of the most expensive plumbers, not just in the world, but in the universe, headed off to fix the john.

I love the Birthplace of Speed already.

What I Saw Today

While I am waiting for my moving help to show up, I thought I would post What I Saw Today.

The condo complex I live in in Sl-Ocala is a quiet one with, mostly, older residents. This morning I went to take a quick dip in the pool as it is quite warm here today. On my way to the pool I saw this car. I have never seen it in this complex. It wasn't there yesterday. I have no idea how it got there but it obviously was not driven. Used to be a nice car.

The guy in the photo knew nothing about it either. Yes, that is Casper in the foreground and background.

And that is What I Saw Today.

Remembering Birthday Cards from Granny and Man

Remember when we were kids and got birthday cards with coins taped to them from our grandparents?

Well, my Mom passed recently and my brother Tom has been administrating her estate liquidation.

One of the things he did was cancel her magazine subscriptions. My idiot sister Jane thought this was a high priority, after all, Newsweek only prints so many copies.

So the estate got a refund from Newsweek and Tom split it ten ways and sent me my share.

Three dimes taped to an index card.

I love Tom's sense of humor.
