What I Saw Today
As those of you who Count Along With Me might remember this olelongrooffan stays off the Eisenhower Highway System, most of the time, and I do not hesitate to circle around to look at something previously seen at the slower speeds this 50 year old tends to drive these days.Well, the other day, after meeting with a buddy, Manuel Labor, this olelongrooffan was heading down A1A here in The Birthplace of Speed in my olestationbus, to get back to my two and a half room condo, affectionately dubbed the Taj Mahal by my brother, thejeepjunkie, to shower and get back to feeling like a human being again.
Anyway, I spotted this parked in the parking lot of the local IHOP and, as I am always looking out for interesting, at least to this olelongrooffan, something to blog, I knew I had to capture this for Two Wheeled Tuesdays over on Hooniverse and here for you Counters out there.
That's right my fellow Hoons. A 1946Triumph motorcycle. Now, I have to say this about that, other than living near the home of Bike Week and Biketoberfest, I am not a motorcycle guy.
But this two wheeled beauty, the same age as thejeepjunkie's Willys CJ2A, is absolutely gorgeous.As it was about the time of a Japanese dentist appointment, you know, 2:30, the owners were the only guests at that IHOP and I went inside to request their permission to get some images of it.
Well, it turns out the owner was also the dude who restored it. Unfortunately, not being a bike dude, I didn't ask all the questions I should have but I did get out of him that he as 17 more of them at his home not far from the Birthplace of Speed.So, I head back out to the parking lot to get some pertinent images to share with my fellow Hoons.
I especially liked this bicycle style seat the Powers That Be deemed necessary for this oletwowheeler.
And you can bet your *ss that in 1946 there were no electric starters on these.
As I was looking at the foot controls on the left side of this motorbike, I was trying to figure out how the petal to the left in the following image went to the transmission, as is the norm on the few US motorcycles I am familiar with.
I even took another image to try and figure that transmission out.
Then this dumb*ss olelongrooffan realized that it is an English bike and the transmission shifter is on the right while the brake is on the left of the driver in the forward facing position, similar to the controls on their motorcars.
And that tail light on the rear of this rare old Triumph is no larger that a vintage JFK half dollar.Well Counters, I hope this olelongrooffan hasn't taken up too much of your workday and I sincerely hoped you enjoyed seeing this vintage old motorcycle.

Anybody Want This?
We lost a buddy of thejeepjunkies a few weeks ago. RIP TomP.
As thejeepjunkie and Tom's sister were going through his stuff, they basically offered thejeepjunkie pretty much whatever he wanted. Well, at one time BBB's lovely wife was into elephants so he snagged this for her. When thejeepjunkie and BBB got together for dinner and drinks earlier this week, he offered it to be taken to Debra. BBB informed thejeepjunkie that she is no longer into elephant stuff.
The lamp is about 18" tall and has a collapseable plastic shade with a metal frame. Brand new, never been used.
So, anyway, any of you Counters want this thing? I've had it on Craigslist for a few weeks and am tired of all of the spam email the ad is generating. Cost to you is USPS postage only.
Either that or it goes to Goodwill.
And, as always, finding funky old stuff to share with you Counters out there lets this olelongrooffan

What I Saw Today
So, this olelongrooffan was out and about cruising around and I spotted this beauty just around the corner from TheGoodAttorney's house.
I had seen it in its garage of that house at the intersection of Woodridge and Ridgewood here in the Birthplace of Speed but this was the first time I had seen it out playing in the yard.
This olepickemup truck appears to have been in quite a few shows over the years including the 50th anniversary of the Birthplace of Speed Celebration in 2009.
The headlights of this fire engine red and high gloss black Blue Oval product boasted these really cool headlight visors, the like of which this olelongrooffan doesn't recollect seeing previously.
And while this hood ornament/radiator cap is not as ornate as some, it is still pretty cool and matches the understatedness of this flawless beauty.
And that decal in the passenger side of the opening windshield, that is a gas rationing sticker from World War Two.
And, in addition to the cool wood stakes on this truck, the woodworking owner also constructed a nice wooden box for the bed of this early pickup.
And this olelongrooffan just now, doing this blog, noticed the bullet hole decals on the tailgate!
Know this Counters, it is finding this kind of stuff that continues to allow this olelongrooffan to

What I Saw Today
Live and in person, a one family owned 1967 Mini Moke!! That's right Counters. I spotted this example on Saturday located next door to TheGoodAttorney's home here in The Birthplace of Speed.It seems to this olelongrooffan that I had seen a write up somewhere on these tubes recently about a Mini Moke but when I saw this one in person, I just had to share it with you.
This is a 1967 Mini Moke with 37, 243 original miles on it. I spoke with the owner who inherited it from his late father. His dad purchased it new in 1967 and it has been in his family ever since.
Apparently, his dad was a fellow Hoon. In 1949, he imported an early MG and father and son met it at the docks in New York City to take delivery of it. The owner mentioned his dad, much like TheGentlemanFarmer, also owned some off the wall stuff including a Citroen of the DS variety, a VW microbus and an early Austin Healey.
The interior of these cool ole beach buggies are pretty spartan but this one is in fantastic shape with not a bit of rust showing.
The original top, however, has definitely seen better days as the rear window is torn and the grommets holding the top to the frame are a bit stretched.
All in all, though, it is a cool old time machine and would definitely fit in this olelongrooffan's livery.Anyway, that's it. I just wanted to share this with those of you Counting Along With Me and hope you enjoy it.
By the way, asking price is $12,500. Ouch!
