Just To Whet Your Appetite

By the way, Counters, the Gold "P" stands for "Pit Access".....

Thanks, Goodyear....

Oh, and, Yeah, this olelongroofan still is able to

Celebrate Life.

Vehicles Seen Around the Rolex24

So, while this olelongrooffan was out and about at the Daytona International Speedway over the Rolex 24 weekend, I thought I would capture a few images of the vehicles the spectators to this event chose to drive to this happening....

Well, of course, you knew this olestationbus would show up...

but how about this off road capable Segway? Wait, what is that in the background?

Oh yeah, that cool ole Studebaker Flatbed this olelongrooffan has seen around town...

And in just a random order of sightings....
Is this a Lambo? And what about that fugly Sebring Convertible, has to be a rent-a-car.....
\and then this Mercedes in the same trio....

Oh yeah, it is possible to be passed out in the middle of the afternoon, just outside the Women's restroom. Yeah dude, you are so likely to get lucky tonite.

But, this olelongrooffan will say this....I maybe shoulda traded the olestationbus for one of these on Craigslist last month....a, say, early 70's Mercedes 280 coupe.... Ahhhh.

Then again, check out the members of the local air cooled fan club.

Nice stuff all around...

And this olelongrooffan loves this 356 bathtub....

And on to less rare vehicles...this is one TheKenMan would like....but unfortunately it was made of the same materials this one.........

And then there is this rare Slant Nose 911...Always a nice presentation. Interestingly enough, Porsche Red is the only color I have ever seen of this automobile legend.

And then this soon to be extinct Dodge Viper, but a ragtop?

Hey...check out those cars between NASCAR turns 1 and 2 in the background....

Check out this means of transport to the 24....this dude had a total campout set up, plus a portable laptop with cable TV access...and he spent the whole weekend there...

and thejeepjunkie's bright yellow flat fender was a real hit with him!!

Just down the way, I found this Ford GT....

and face to face with it was this super sweet Porsche 944

sorry about this olelongrooffan's shadow in that shot...but I will still take the Porsha..no typo there...anytime over the GT......

Finally, one of the last cool rides I spotted was this Renault 1100, which I believe to be a

Floride, as this olelongrooffan has a 1/43 diecast of this same ragtop, and the best part,

I later spotted it down at the GRM Experience and captured a couple more images of it.

And, just knowing that happened, and being in the position to enjoy it, lets me

Celebrate Life.

Koni Challenge Racecars In The Garage

So, the day before the Rolex24, the Koni Challenge race cars, sponsored by Continental Tires, have their day in the sun down here at the Daytona International Speedway.

Since this olelongrooffan was there anyway, yeah, Thursday through Sunday, then meeting with Manuel Labor every day this week, this oleunemployedconstructionworker is exhausted.

Anyway, I thought I would share some images I gathered up that day with all you Counters out there.

The below image of this Subby back up car. The primary race car was out practicing while this olelongrooffan was wandering around the garage area.

And, as in all forms of racing I follow, one dude in full fire protection gear and another close by with a fire extinguisher, just in case. But note the other two dudes in this image, as well as this olelongrooffan, were standing nearby with absolutely no protection!! Hey buddy, got a light?

Saw this cool Audi up on jackstands just down garage row just a bit.

And her sister cars, Volkswagen Jettas.

And a nearly ubiquitous Mazda Miata MX5 with the hardtop installed.

And another....

This was the Honda team lined up for a team photo. To my left while shooting this image was a guy up on the top of a transporter orchestrating this shoot.

Just some of the means of transportation around the garage and pits, for both humans and their tools.

Once again, this olelongrooffan took this image for a reason but I sure as h*ll don't know what it was.

This is a shot of the racecars lining up to head out for their 2010 debut.

Here is a short video of the cars heading out.

And another of the teams heading out. Notice how the race cars have the right of way?

That's it for the Koni Challenge cars, I think, but know this olelongrooffan had a blast out there that day as I continue to

Celebrate Life.

Vintage Rides At The Rolex24

So, this olelongrooffan did a blog a couple posts back about how fortunate I was to get a ticket to the Rolex24 GRM Experience and, just to let you Counters out there know, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I got a few images of some past 24 Hour winners and I thought I would share them with you.

But, I will let you know, this olelongrooffan doesn't have a fancy dancy three thousand dollar digital but a super cheap fifty dollar Polaroid digital from Walgreens so spare me the comments on the quality of these images........

Enjoy the experience.....

a super cool Ford Cortina...It was so funny, a bunch

of "super cool dudes, in their hundreds of thousands of dollars motorcoach friends" didn't even know what this Cortina was or It's Place in the world of MotorSports history was.

Yeah, Posers.

And, how about this Sweet XKE?

One of the cooler Brumos Porsches.

Now, for the Penske contenders, first #6

and then #15

How about this #16 Mustang...

Now, this olelongrooffan must admit I am not sure what this one is...

but I do know this is another Mustang, and surely a game winner....

but I do remember this is a Lola

as is this one....I Think.....

And, Yeah, this olelongrooffan can still

Celebrate Life.

Yeah, I've Been Busy Too

Just a short post of some of the events of this past coupla weeks.

thejeepjunkie called me to assist him on a "project".

Since his truck didn't meet the desires of thejeepjunkie, he contacted a FHP buddy to see if a trailer was available.

Yes, it was and the transportation of that Rover was complete.

Then a happy hour at the Kid's garage attached to the sungoddess's house with TheGoodAttorney and thejeepjunkie.

But on the way, this olelongrooffan spotted this early 70's Chevelle atop that car hauling rig.

Then, later in the week, thejeepjunkie calls this olelongrooffan to help him rescue the Kid's CJ.

Seems the Kid went over those CSX railroad tracks at their intersection with US 1 and the float in the carb jumped up and got stuck, rendering the carb useless in the propelaration (sp) of that ole Jeep.

Well, know this olelongrooffan and the jeepjunkie got the Kid's CJ home safely.

By The Way, jeepjunkie, where are the hubcaps on that ole CJ?

And knowing this olelongrooffan realizes those hubcaps are missing lets me

Celebrate Life.

Racing, Not Posing

And it is the opportunity to see a bunch of these last weekend that allows this olelongrooffan to really

Celebrate Life.
